Interviewed members of the community, made transcripts, did research and wrote articles.
St. Augustine DECA: Finance Trainer
Trained students on finance concepts, trained students on competition strategies and rules, competed in competitions, represented St. Augustine DECA inter-school events, attended executive meetings and helped run mock exams.
St. Augustine Business Banquet Rise with Resilience: Sponsorship Committee Member
Collected donations by reaching out to businesses and organized raffles on the day of event. Chosen to be on team for organizing all raffle prizes in the final stretch before the event, and some important last minute changes. Goal was to collect cash donations for the Sick Kids Foundation, then raise money at actual event to donate all in one cheque.
Sunset Eco Racing: Co-founder and Project Manager
Founder of a team dedicated to building an electric car to eventually compete in a competition far away (was not realistic). Did recruiting, promotional material, assisted in transport of vehicle, acquisition of parts, storage of vehicle, designing of parts and 3D model of vehicle, made second promotional website (original was done by someone else) and liased with staff advisor for club. Handled the eventual disposal for the car.
University
York Engineering Competition – Innovative Design: 1st Place Winner
Designed the 3D model of the toilet and handled putting together the working model. Learnt that it is important to ask for help and communicate when struggling.
Ontario Engineering Competition: A York Representative
After winning the York Engineering Competition, our team spent 3 days in Hamilton at McMaster. We unfortunately did not win, but spoke to and learnt from our seniors at other schools.
YU Markham Campus Patio Project: 3D Modeller and Project Administrator
Made a 3D model of the York University Markham Campus’ proposed outdoor spaces, and managed files and meeting minutes for the team.
York University: Engineering Physics PASS Leader
Explained physics concepts to students in new and hopefully easy to understand ways.
Employment History
Canadian Tire: Sales Associate
Stocked shelves and helped customers. Lots of lifting involved.
Toronto Island Bike Rental: Bike Attendant
Gave bikes to people, took bikes when returned. Learned to stay calm under the pressure of many bikes coming in and going out.
NBM Engineering: Design Team Summer Student
Helped with a project that I cannot share the details of. I learned how to use spreadsheets efficiently, and learned things about civil engineering from my supervisor, manager and coworkers.
York University: Engineering Physics PASS Leader
Explained physics concepts to students in new and hopefully easy to understand ways. Falls under this heading because it is also employment.
City of Richmond Hill: Contract Engineering Assistant (Intern)
Among other things, practised providing comments on engineering submissions, searched for documents in our database, digitized files, went on site visits, made spreadsheets, attended various committee meetings and did research online for my coworkers.
